Mathew Jasper
Young poet Mathew Jasper from India writes a thought-provoking poem about a simple quotidian act.
I want to take off everything,
every sliver of clothing,
anything that covers—
there’s something peculiar
about unobserved nudity,
something
world-buildingly for whose
generous gaze
I desire. How lonely
to be in quiet audience
of one’s own nakedness,
artist
at consummation’s cusp—
cupping one’s own secret breasts
like a freshly done outline,
in private delight
at turn toward liminal…
something nimbly lost
in the textile everydayness
of coerced production.
